Prison Island Tour
A short and smooth 30 minute boat ride from Unguja (Zanzibar) lies Changuu Island, famously know as Prison Island, even though the Prison was never actually used to house prisoners.
The main use of the Island was to house troublesome slaves that were brought from the mainland of Tanganyika so as to prevent their escap before being sold to their Arabian buyers at auction.
Now home to a colony of Giant Toirtoises, the Island is a great day trip with excellent snoreling and swimming.
Looking for sand and sea with a touch of nature and history, then this excursion to the tropical Changuu Island is for you.
